@brave.creative.me Guess who I met strolling up and down the downforce in Toronto a few days ago! I met a real superhero, but don’t tell Captain Grief. he was truly amazing so if anyone knows who this gentleman might be where his social media is, please tag him so I can thank him for making my day and put the word out on his appearances.#torontospiderman#danfourthvillage
You truly never know what wonderful things could be waiting for you just around a corner (or ON a phone booth). I was strolling down the Danforth last summer on a sunny summer day when low and behold who should I meet, but the web slinger himself. Total kudos for taking a new approach to the “just let me slip into this phone booth to put on my costume” trope, having actual sticky webs, and for being able to maintain that deep catchers squat, I’m sure he must stretch regularly!
I don’t think I committed too bad of a superhero faux pas by revealing my Super Hero Identity, especially as I knew he could relate to common superhero affliction that is the psychological equivalent to a secret handshake, loss! My heart empathetically beats for Peter Parkers everywhere, the Batmans, and Captain Americas who lost their parents, the other Wonder Women who have lost their partners and yes of course all the scores of villains who have turned to the dark side out of grief. One thing is certain, we are all deeply imperfect, wounded souls in need of redemption. Especially the strongest of us.
The only thing that is constant is change, which by another name we call loss. We will always be releasing something in exchange for something else, but what we surrender to up to us! It is the way we go with the flow in life and let it carry us to where we are meant to be. And before I wax too existential I would like to draw this parallel to my own world where I have some exciting things to surrender to. I am excited to share an upcoming interview with Peter Okonkwo of P.English.Literature (PEL). We did a deep dive into writing through loss and some of my own unconventional methods! To watch this interview when it is live click here.
In other upcoming news I will be having a book launch in the West end of Toronto at the end of March and I will be a guest on the podcast “As I Live and Grieve” with Kathy Gleason in April. I applied to perform at “Camp Widow” in June, in Toronto which is bound to be fun, just need to find another widow to zip up my suit! Lastly there is redemption after many months of experiencing a severe allergic reaction to technology, attack by scammers and the recent obliteration of my FaceBook Profiles, don’t worry I still have “The High-Flying Adventures of Captain Grief” Facebook group even if I had to sneak through the back door and join lol! Anyways I am here to say I have redesigned my site at www.captaingrief.com on Wix, a much kinder platform for the ADHD folk like us. However Word Press does not have a function to reassign the subscribers to this site so please resubscribe at your convenience so you don’t miss out on all the fun!
Mmmmmwah!
